Ways to ship cargo from the Netherlands

Sea freight

Sea container shipments from the Netherlands leave via the port of Rotterdam for Russia. Cargo enters through the port of Saint Petersburg and is then delivered across the regions.

For Belarus, the container goes by sea to a Russian port and then by road to the consignee's warehouse.

Road freight

Used for direct shipping from the Netherlands to Russia and Belarus in transit through the EU, with delivery to the consignee's warehouse in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Minsk and the regions.

Air freight

Cargo departs from Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol, AMS). In Russia it arrives at Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME), Vnukovo (VKO) or Zhukovsky (ZIA); in Belarus, at Minsk Airport (MSQ). It is then delivered to the consignee's warehouse or door.

Rail freight

Used as part of multimodal routes transiting Europe and crossing at the Małaszewicze — Brest border junction. Containers then continue by rail to Belarus or Russia, followed by road delivery.

Groupage shipping from the Netherlands

Suits small commercial consignments. Goods from different shippers are consolidated at the warehouse, cleared and shipped together.

Groupage from the Netherlands to Russia and Belarus takes 7 to 14 days on average, depending on the route and mode.

How it works

  1. Information gathering — cargo details, volume, weight, supplier and consignee addresses.
  2. Checking requirements and restrictions for the goods — including export from the EU and import into Russia or Belarus.
  3. Preparing the commercial documents — invoice and packing list.
  4. Collection from the supplier or delivery to a consolidation warehouse in the Netherlands.
  5. Consolidation or transport booking, depending on the type of shipment.
  6. Filing export and transit documents (EX-1, T1).
  7. Dispatch and delivery to the consignee's warehouse, with import customs clearance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ship from the Netherlands without a contract with the European supplier?

Yes, in some cases cargo can ship on the seller's invoice or under an agency arrangement. The format depends on the type of goods, the country of import and customs requirements in Russia or Belarus.

Can consignments from different Dutch cities be combined into one shipment?

Yes. If the timing matches, cargo can be collected from different addresses and cleared as one consignment.

What documents are needed to ship from Holland?

You need an invoice and a packing list. Export and transit documents are also filed, and on import, a customs clearance package for Russia or Belarus.

What must the invoice state for export from the Netherlands?

The exact description of the goods, HS code, intended use and value. Vague descriptions often trigger extra checks.
